Located along the southern shore of Lake Ontario, our home port of Sandy Creek provides many excellent opportunities to catch your trophy of a lifetime. This port "o" call, located about 20 min west of Rochester, New York in the small town of Hamlin, Sandy Creek produces good runs of Chinook Salmon, Steelhead and Brown Trout year after year. Good bottom structure, many smaller feeder creeks and abundant bait fish help to make this area an excellent fishery that gets better and better every year.

Starting in mid April thru the month of May the sun starts to warm the many creeks and sandy bottom areas just east and west of the main channel. Here we will find hungery Brown Trout and coho salmon very close to the shoreline feeding on spawning baitfish. As the waters warm a little more "spring" kings start to move into the area and larger schools of Steelhead start to show up off-shore. At this time Lake Trout are also on a feeding binge after a long cold winter.

Fishing with your kid
Catch of the day June is a month of transition as the waters of Lake Ontario warm even more and the fish head to deeper water looking for their comfortable temperature zone. These are called thermocline temperature breaks. In July and August this is where we will find the largest predator fish in Lake Ontario, the "Chinook" or King Salmon. These fish that where once 10-15 lbs in the spring now can reach 30 lbs or more of tackle busting brute force. If you are looking for a challange, do battle with one of these boys.
